The newborn was found Thursday in a bag in the parking lot of a store in the town of Rymnik-Vilcea after a man told police there was blood on the floor and walls of the toilet. The child had vital signs and was taken to the hospital, News.ro reports. The police found his mother and are investigating.

“On April 27, a man reported to the Rymnik-Vilcha municipal police that there was a significant amount of blood in the bathroom of a commercial building in the municipality, both on the floor and on the walls. Police officers who went to the scene found that the reported cases were confirmed. During the first checks, a newborn baby was found in a bag in the parking lot, which had signs of vital activity,” the Vilcha District Police Inspectorate reported on Thursday evening.

The newborn was taken to the hospital for medical care.

At the same time, the police managed to quickly establish the identity of his mother, a 39-year-old woman from Vilcha County, who abandoned the newborn.

The police, under the coordination of the prosecutor’s office at the Rymnik Vilcha court, are investigating this case for the crime of harming a newborn child, establishing the exact factual circumstances.
