A 14-year-old girl from a locality in Cluj County was hospitalized in a coma in intensive care after she choked on jelly. The incident took place while the teenager was at school and doctors say precious time was wasted before an ambulance arrived at the school and the girl could have been saved with a properly performed Heimlich maneuver.

The incident happened on Wednesday at a high school in the city of Cluj Geaka, the girl’s cardiorespiratory system stopped after she choked on the jelly, writes dej24.ro.

After calling 112, the SMURD crew from the Dej fire station – Mociu work station, an ambulance with a doctor from Gherla arrived at the scene, then the girl was picked up by a SMURD helicopter from Jibou and taken to the emergency department. from Cluj-Napoca.

Doctors say that the teenager is in a deep coma and needs life support.
