
Wales’ Jack Jones (world No. 52) and China’s Xi Jiahui (80) surprised everyone in their first appearance at the World Snooker Championship to reach the quarter-finals of the Crucible.

Jones has already knocked out Ali Carter (finalist in 2008 and 2012) and Neil Robertson (champion in 2010) and will fight for a place in the quarters with Mark Allen (No. 3 in the world, semi-finalist in 2009).
At just 20 years old, Xi Jiahui defeated Sean Murphy (2005 champion and 2009, 2015 and 2021 finalist) and Robert Milkins (14th). The Chinese next has a meeting with the Scotsman Anthony McGill (21st place).

How to play at the World Snooker Championship
- In quarters, the “best of 25 frames” rule applies.
- In the semi-finals, the winner will be determined by the “best of 33 shots” system.
- Finally, in the grand final, the winner will be determined by the “best of 35 frames”.
How it will be in the final
- There will be 8 frames in the first session of the final. The second session will consist of 9 frames, the third will consist of 8 frames. Finally, the final session will have a maximum of 10 frames (may or may not all be played, depending on the score on the table).
