World number two Alcaraz needed one hour and 20 minutes for the two sets that earned him a victory over the tournament’s second favorite, Greek Tsitsipas.
The Spaniard did not give many chances to Tsitsipas, who started both sets well, but could not keep the pace until the end.
After this match, Carlos Alcaraz leads 4-0 head-to-head against Stefanos Tsitsipas.
They last met in the ATP Barcelona 2022 quarterfinals, where the Spaniard won 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.
Alcaraz beat compatriot Pablo Carreño Busta 6-3, 6-2 in last year’s final.
The Barcelona Open takes place from April 15 to 23 and is part of the ATP 500 category. The total prize money is 2,661,825 euros, and the title champion was Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz.
