The National Anti-Discrimination Council has appealed to itself and will analyze the responsibility of people who commented on the death of journalist Iulia Marin in several shows on Romanian television, CNDC president Caba Astalos said on Rock FM on Friday.
- “We have also taken note of this call and the incident itself. We had a discussion about our internal communications team in the board of directors and we decided to initiate a self-referral in this case,” Tsaba Atsalos said on Rock FM.
If it determines that an act of discrimination has been committed, the CNCD can impose a fine of 2,000 to 100,000 lei.
Csaba Asztalos said that the case will be analyzed by both the National Anti-Discrimination Council and the National Broadcasting Council (CNA), as the two institutions have shared competence in this case.
- “CNA discusses the responsibility of the license holder (no – Romanian TV), while CNCD has the competence to discuss the responsibility of natural persons (no – moderator and guests) who commit an act of discrimination.
- We will discuss incitement to hatred and discrimination by degrading human dignity (…)
- A real problem in Romania is the stigmatization of people who have certain mental health problems, ranging from depression (..)
- As far as I understood from specialists, it is extremely important for these people to be integrated into society, to be integrated into work,” said the CNCD president.
Mircea Toma, a member of the CNA, announced on Thursday night during an intervention on the podcast “Judecata de Acum” that some members of the institution had reported themselves.
- “CNA has stronger tools than CNCD, and I think that the sanctions system, apart from the fines applied by CNA and which we also learn from the CNA communique, they have a very effective and deterrent sanctioning tool: the suspension of the issue for a certain period of time. period of time,” Tsaba Ashtalos said.
We remind you that in the last two days, on Romanian television, the death of journalist Yulia Marin in Viktor Chutaka’s show was qualified with such phrases as: “These people are mentally ill, they made press materials”, “Miss Marin”. a pen is a weapon. Which, used dishonestly, can destroy fortunes”, “Wrongly advertised as a media experiment” or “I would not allow a person with mental problems to work for me”.
