He may not have a new – and reportedly the last of his career – film yet, but o Quentin Tarantino will take part in the 2023 Cannes Film Festival starting in a few days as part of a two-week film directors’ festival.

However, this year the popular director is not only the guest of honor, but also on May 25 will hold a “secret screening” and discuss the history of cinema with those present. Themes from 1970s Hollywood were recently published in his book Film Speculation, which is in part Tarantino’s memoir.

Directors’ Fortnight is a selection of selected films from around the world screened in conjunction with the Cannes Film Festival. In fact, this section began at Cannes in 1969, just like the time period in cinema that Tarantino treats in his book. The era when “a new generation of filmmakers rebelled against the old Hollywood.”

The director recently announced the making of his 10th film of his career, possibly titled Film Critic. Reports state that the action takes place in the late 1970s in Los Angeles.

In November 2022, he stated that his final film will have an original script. But other than that, he is expected to helm the upcoming mini-series, which is expected to be released on the streaming platform.

In 2012, Tarantino announced that he would stop making films when they reached 10 and would retire from the film industry when he turned 60. He himself celebrated his 60th birthday in 2023.
