Judd Trump beat Anthony McGill at CM Snooker 2023
McGill, who is ranked 21st in the world, started the match poorly (0-2 and 2-3), but came back impressively and won four frames in a row (6-3).
Judd closed the gap (5-6 and 6-7), but Anthony held on for victory, dominating the next three frames.
Anthony McGill won 10-6, and in the 1/8 finals he will meet Englishman Jack Lisowski, currently the 13th player in the world.
The 2019 champion is disappointed after being eliminated from CM Snooker
Judd Trump (world No. 5) said he was disappointed at the end of the match but believes the pressure is on Ronnie O’Sullivan and Shaun Murphy and no one expected him to dominate again at the Crucible Theatre.
“I couldn’t beat any high-level player with that kind of game. I deserved to lose today. It’s not so much about the defeat itself, but how we lost. I didn’t step up, missed easy balls, which has not happened often lately.
The whole season requires full concentration. I couldn’t concentrate like I had in previous years. It’s frustrating because we had a few chances. Every time I returned to the table in the last session, the balls were scattered everywhere. On another day, I probably would have accidentally closed the table.
The same thing happened at the end of the first session. I missed easy balls and that also cost me the day. I trained well, as I’m sure everyone else did. I feel no pressure. I think all the pressure is on Ronnie (O’Sullivan) and (Sean) Murphy. No one expected me to win the tournament” – Judd Trump for Eurosport.
