Kyren Wilson made the fourth-highest break (147) of his career on Wednesday when he faced Ryan Day in the first round of the World Snooker Championship.
Kyren Wilson scores 147 WC snooker points
A finalist in 2020 (beaten by Ronnie O’Sullivan 18-8), Kyren came from a difficult position to close the table with an impressive break of 147 points, the 13th in the competition’s history at the Crucible Theatre.
“Warrior” also broke 147 points at the 2017 International Championship (vs. Martin Gould), the 2020 Welsh Open (vs. Jackson Page) and the 2020 UK Championship (vs. Ashley Hugill).
This is the 188th maximum break in snooker history. The precedent was even set by Ryan Day, an opponent of Kieran Wilson, on 30 March 2023 (in a match lost to Mark Selby at the Tour Championship, 7-10).
Kyren Wilson leads 5-3 over Ryan Day after eight frames. The winner will defeat John Higgins, four-time world champion (1998, 2007, 2009 and 2011) in the round of 16.
