A model that should be implemented the revival of Lancia, this is it: Pu+Ra HPE! We will remind you that the Lancia brand has been bleeding for several years. Once the flagship of the Italian class, it was known for its elegant sedans, sports coupes and compact rally champions. But after Chrysler absorbed Fiat in 2010, the sign gradually disappeared. Its latest models were renamed Chrysler for Europe (Voyager, 200/Flavia, 300/Thema). Today, only the city car Ypsilon remains, distributed only in Italy. Thanks to Stellantis and the merger of PSA and Fiat/Chrysler, Lancia will indeed be reborn ! It’s been a few months since the brand announced its comeback. First with the Pu+Ra Zero sculpture, today with the original concept car: Pu+Ra HPE.
Clean and radical
It should represent stylistic and technological future of the premium brand. To differentiate itself from DS and Alfa Romeo in Stellantis, Lancia will have to embody Italian sophistication. To achieve this, the brand did a successful combination of cars, architecture and furniture. “Pu” means “pure” and “Ra” is radical: the tone is set and this concept gives pride of place to both curves and geometric shapes. Admire, for example, the contrast between the shield-shaped light signature and the round roof. Between the curves of the stern and the clear lines of the silhouette. Philosophy found on board, in the design of the dashboard, console, steering wheel or even seats! Lancia has teamed up with Cassina, an Italian master of high-end furniture. The goal: think of the car of the future as a living room in motion, and not just as a vehicle. An additional feature of this is the large glass surfaces that transmit light.
Forward to electricity
This is Pu+Ra HPE a homage to the mythical Lancia Stratos of the 70s, a sports coupe that stood out several times at the rally. However, his vocation will be quite different, as it will represent a line of 100% electric models. HPE stands for “High Performance Electric”. If the next generation Ypsilon will be available in hybrid and electric versions, after 2026, Lancia will offer only 100% electric models. Starting with the crossover Aurelia (2026) and the compact Delta (2028). This concept probably won’t lead to marketing in this form. It’s more about a manifesto to show where the brand wants to go. Both in terms of style and technology. Thus, it heralds models designed for maximize aerodynamics. Low roof, thin mirrors, aero discs, spoilers. But also electrical power allows a autonomy up to 700 kilometersand performance oriented engines. The first model to embody this philosophy will be the Ypsilon in 2024. So uncertainty remains, but one thing is certain: Lancia is back! For such a mythical and historic brand (it dates back to 1906), this is good news.
