Dacia Jogger: a victim of success, its production is suspended Auto Plus news in your smartphone Auto Plus news in your inbox

In 2022 Dacia positions itself as the third most important car brand in France. Right behind Peugeot and Renault. A total of 130,855 registrations were recorded, which is 15.46% of the national market. Dacia Sandero even became the second best-selling model in France with 64,293 units. Slightly behind the Peugeot 208, but ahead of the Renault Clio. The inexpensive brand of the Renault group has a number of outstanding results both in the national and in the European market. After 2021 and the Renaulution restructuring plan, Dacia launched several new models such as Dacia Spring electric and crossover break runner. There the third generation of Duster is expected to be presented at the end of the year, and Bigster SUV planned for 2024. An exceptional period for Dacia!

Petrol, LPG and now hybrid

Another feat of arms: its new Jogger is the cheapest hybrid model on the market. Just! It was offered at launch in 2022 with a 110bhp TCE petrol engine and a 100bhp Eco-G LPG engine. A full hybrid block with a capacity of 140 horsepower appeared this year. Announced with mixed consumption from 4.9 to 5.1 l/100 km against about 5.7 l/100 km for the 110 hp gasoline version. It is based on the same platform as the Dacia Sandero, for which there is an extended version and a convertible version with a choice of seven seats. She herself was in the third generation based on the Clio V platform. Guaranteed promotion to a high level for Dacia, whose old-generation platforms were less about comfort and more about rationalizing costs.

Supply crisis in Mioven

Since launch in 2021 The Jogger is assembled locally at the Mioveni factory in Romania. It is here that gasoline, gas and now hybrid Dacia station wagons appear every day. Already a victim of its success with the petrol version, the arrival of the hybrid version on the tracks doesn’t help. There shortage of chip/semiconductor which affects the automotive sector has not escaped Dacia. Taken by storm at its launch, you already have to wait twelve months to obtain a copy thereof. It’s a supply crunch: more orders than the factory can produce because of a chip shortage. That’s why the Dacia management decided temporarily pause the Jogger build in Mioven until the chip supply is replenished and returned to the balance. It is only a matter of a few days, but if it happens often, The 12-month period can be extended further…
