On Wednesday, The Italian data protection authority has given OpenAI – the US company behind ChatGPT – until April 30 to comply with specific privacy requirements.
In the course of the investigation, the Italian regulator requires that Open AI to check the age of users before using the chatbot and explain on your website how and why it processes individual data for ChatGPT. The US company must ask users for consent to the use of their data and, at the same time, provide them with the opportunity to request their correction or deletion.
OpenAI must also fulfill information campaign through Italian TV, radio, websites and newspapers until 14 May to inform the public about how Chat Gpt uses their personal data.
The company will also have to submit a detailed plan by May 31 to ensure that minors under the age of 13 cannot access ChatGPT without parental consent.
It is recalled that at the end of March, ChatGPT was ordered to temporarily stop processing the personal data of Italian users.
OpenAI executives then spoke with Italian authorities to present their plan to alleviate concerns about possible breaches of users’ personal data.
