Serbia is not participating in the war UkraineThis was stated by Defense Minister Milos Vucevic, refuting reports that Belgrade supplies the Ukrainian army with military equipment. This statement was made in connection with the publication of a secret document leaked from the US Pentagon, which lists Serbia among the “countries that agreed to send military equipment to Ukraine.”
Milos Vucevic called these accusations malicious. “We have refuted this at least ten times, we will do it again. Serbia has not sold and will not sell weapons to either the Ukrainian or Russian side, or the countries surrounding them. “Obviously, some are trying to drag Serbia into this conflict, but we are resisting with a firm position of neutrality,” the Serbian defense minister told the Tanjug news agency. At the same time, he did not rule out that some third countries buy weapons from Serbia and then promote them to the Ukrainian army, in violation of international rules.
The issue of selling Serbian munitions to Ukraine first arose in late 2022, when Russian state media published videos of Ukrainian military operations that showed mortar shells of Serbian origin. The Serbian Ministry of Defense and the Krusik military industry, which produces the specific missiles, denied the Russian reports and said no military material was exported to Ukraine.
March 2, 2023 Representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated at a press conference that there is information about the use of Serbian military equipment by the Ukrainian army. Belgrade issued a new refutation through the mouth of the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić.
