The EPO proceeded to change the referees for the AEK-Aris game after reports circulated that the Polish referees assigned from the start were drunk and caused an incident during the flight and at the airport. KED nominated Aristotelis Diamantopoulos for this match (he was fourth in the original nominations with the Poles) with helpers Reichard Buxbaum and Tryphona Petropoulos, while Angelos Evangelou will be in VAR with helper Andreas Fotopoulos and fourth Christos Vergetis.

“Following letters sent by PAE to AEK and Aris regarding the publications regarding the incident with the official referees of today’s AEK-Aris match, KED/EPO is obliged to replace them with Greek referees,” the EPO said in a statement.
