There are two points where it is impossible to find common ground, otherwise the opinions expressed will develop into conflicts.

Cooperation with him Janis Varoufakis sounds negative for “presidential” officials, at the same time it is possible that members of “Umbrella“. For the majority, the exit of the head of MeRA25 from the party in 2015 is irreversible. The orientation he followed and what he attributed to SYRIZA cannot simply be overcome. It is very difficult for them to sit down again at the same ministerial table, as if nothing is happening. The “equation” now also includes PASOK, which ruled out cooperation with the former finance minister. After all, they argue that if SYRIZA is the first party, they do not need to turn to Janis Varoufakis and complicate the situation.

Another approach

The presentation of the program, with which Kumunduru will fight in the elections, at the Political Secretariat on Thursday was agreed by all members.

Umbrella sees things quite differently, believing that the prospect of a left-wing progressive government should not exclude anyone. By “turning a blind eye” to Mr. Varoufakis, they estimate, they nonetheless show that Kumunduru has not severed ties with the more radical public that supported the party twice in 2015.

There are also two points of view on how SYRIZA can use a simple analogy. The electoral system that the party voted for in 2016 is by its very nature conducive to cooperation, strengthens smaller formations because it does not provide a bonus, and allows – depending on the parties that remain out of parliament – ​​the latter to form a collaborationist government. Leaders, mostly left-leaning, have repeatedly publicly stated that the official opposition should not exclude anything. Explaining that in the event of a slight disagreement with the New Republic, the citizens were essentially ordering the union government to take over. In their discussions, they calculated that if SYRIZA, together with the other two forces, reaches a percentage close to 46%, the members, through an electronic referendum, can point the way to the formation of a progressive government.

They cut off the conversation

“The beans don’t come out,” say the majority, except for the “government of losers.” They echo what Alexis Tsipras said: SYRIZA’s first seat, besides being non-negotiable, is a one-way street to the ballot box of simple proportionality. They rule out any scenario in which the rise to power would be called into question even on a moral level and would be evaluated as a “bracket” in the political arena.
