Israel said today it shot down a drone that entered its border from Lebanon amid an unprecedented escalation in tensions on the Israeli-Lebanese front, the highest since 2006.
The Israeli army said in a statement that its soldiers “shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle that invaded Israeli territory from Lebanese territory, near the settlement of Zarit.”
The statement said the army “will continue to prevent any attempt to violate Israeli sovereignty.”
This incident occurred after Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli military said it struck three Hamas “infrastructures” in the Rashidiya area today in response to more than 30 rockets fired from Lebanon at Israel on Thursday, injuring one person and causing property damage.
The Israeli military said the rockets, for which no responsibility was claimed, were fired by “Palestinian” and possibly by Hamas, Islamic Jihad or another armed group.
The Israeli military also attacked Hamas infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.
