The Armed Forces of Ukraine discussed measures to prevent the leakage of military information, said the spokesman of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, Sky News reports.

We will remind you that the other day, the American newspaper New York Times reported that the Pentagon is investigating how secret military documents were posted on social networks this spring, detailing US and NATO plans to strengthen the Ukrainian army for a planned counteroffensive.

However, in the new statement of the representative of the Ukrainian president, there are no references to the fact that there was a leak of information.

Earlier on Friday, Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to President Zelensky, said the leak of classified documents detailing secret US and NATO plans to help Kiev “appears to be a Russian disinformation operation” to cast doubt on Ukraine’s planned counteroffensive.

Podolyak told Reuters that the leaks reported by the New York Times contained “a very large amount of fabricated information” and that Russia was trying to regain the initiative in the war.

“These are just standard elements of operational games of Russian intelligence. And nothing more,” Podoliak said in a written statement.

Reuters says it was not immediately able to review the leaked documents.

The documents have been changed

In an article published on Thursday, the NYT said the documents appeared to have been altered in some places, and experts consulted by the US publication suggested they would be used for Russian propaganda.

Some of the documents contained estimates of Ukrainian military casualties that were much higher than Western estimates available so far, while Russian casualties were lower than British estimates.

Ukraine does not disclose the size of its losses and is very sensitive to this topic.
