The video published by the National Guard of Ukraine shows part of the combat operations of the Ukrainian military in the Bakhmut area, the footage shows the combat use of the Ukrainian BTR-4E armored personnel carrier.
In the pictures edited and published by the Ukrainian National Guard, you can see the battle scenes taken from the ground, from the side of an armored vehicle, as well as from a drone and capture the moments of the battle on the streets of Bakhmut, especially in the suburbs with many houses.
According to the National Guard of Ukraine, “the armored personnel carrier supported the infantry in Bakhmut” and fired at the positions of the “Wagner” mercenaries with a 30-mm cannon.
“The enemy is cunning, you have to be ready for different scenarios. The main forces are amphibious assault groups, but fire support plays an important role. In urban conditions, where the battles are quite dense, the armored personnel carrier is less vulnerable and more effective than other types of equipment,” says the National Guardsman.

BTR-4, Ukrainian-made armored personnel carrier
BTR-4 – the same name Bucephalus is a type of 8×8 armored combat vehicle that has been produced in Ukraine since 2014.
The armored car weighs 17 tons and can reach 28 tons with additional ballistic and mine protection. The crew of the armored personnel carrier consists of three people and can carry eight more soldiers.
The main armament is a 30-mm automatic cannon, the auxiliary one is a 7.62-mm machine gun.
In total, more than 750 such cars were produced both for Ukraine and for export to countries such as Indonesia, Iraq, and Nigeria.
30-mm guns have shown their effectiveness in the fight against Russian tanks
Ukrainian BTR-4 armored personnel carriers proved to be extremely effective during the war, often becoming “stars” in numerous videos during battles, especially with an effective 30 mm gun.
Combat footage showed how 30mm shells, unable to penetrate the main armor of Russian tanks, could still knock out much heavier combat vehicles.
- A burst of 30mm shells fired at a tank would have virtually no chance of penetrating the armor, but such an attack could disable the tank if various other elements of the tank such as tracks, wheels, sights, etc. were hit. equipment installed on the tank, etc.
The images showing the Ukrainian BTR-4 equipped with a 30mm gun being able to knock out Russian armored vehicles, including the main battle tank, may have an indirect meaning for Romania as well.
Our country has Piranha 5 armored personnel carriers, armed with a remote-controlled turret with a 30-mm gun. See an image of the Piranha 5 firing the 30mm cannon here.
Meanwhile, Romania also has MLI-84M Jderul tracked armored vehicles with remote-controlled 25mm cannons and Spike anti-tank missiles.
