“The truck driver stopped yesterday afternoon (no – Tuesday) at a parking lot on DN 6, near the town of Valya Plopilor, to rest. At some point he noticed a grenade in the grass and called 112,” ISU Giurgiu reported on Wednesday.

A group of ISU Giurgiu pyrotechnicians went to the place.

After the checks, it was established that this is a defensive grenade, functional.

The ammunition was collected and safely transported for destruction.

Since the beginning of the year, five 76, 100 and 120 mm high-explosive shells, a warhead with a detonator, a 120 mm grenade launcher, a defense grenade and seven 7.62 mm infantry shells have also been found in the forests of Kelugereni. and Sabaren, as well as on lands in Giurdzha, Mykhailiest, Stoienest, Slobozia and Vlad Tepes.

“Unexploded ordnance is very dangerous, so people should know what to do when they find metal objects that look like shells, grenades, bombs, cartridges, etc. First of all, he must not touch or hit them, even if they are partially buried in the ground or on the surface. They don’t need to pick them up because they can’t know what stage they are at. If they are not sure what the items are, they should not cut them up or use them for makeshift tools or ornaments. Out of curiosity, some people may be tempted to dismantle the warheads or other components, which is prohibited, as such an action could cause explosions,” ISU Giurgiu said, news.ro reported.
