Xiaomi Romania launched the “Urban Artisans” project, which aims to present to the public portraits of people who work with their hands and dedicate their time and energy to creative goals. All photos and videos are entirely taken by photographer Sorin Florea using the new Xiaomi 13 Pro smartphone. This camera phone, like the Xiaomi 13 model, was developed in partnership with Leica. Both phones are equipped with professional Leica optical lenses, as well as advanced software that complements the authentic Leica experience.
City craftsmen – by a work of art
The aim of the photo reports within the Urban Artisans project was to immerse the Romanian public in the world of Bucharest craftsmen and show the beauty and hidden stories behind the works of art they created, which are often ignored or disappear. This is a project of the Xiaomi Romania brand, which shows appreciation and respect for local traditions and, at the same time, helps to form a connection between the brand and the public.
In the first episode of the series, Xiaomi Romania told the story of Julian, a young man who repairs “old school” cameras in a small workshop in the center of the capital. In the second episode, the passion for ceramic art came to the fore. It is one of the oldest occupations in Romania, evidence of this occupation exists since the Neolithic era.
The art of ceramics through the lens of the Xiaomi 13 Pro
Bucharest still has a very active community of artists dedicated to ceramic art. He works for days with great care to bring art objects to life. Sorin Florea went to see them at work at cuckoo.place and tell their stories in photos using a phone that stands out for its photography capabilities. The Xiaomi 13 Pro, the flagship of the Xiaomi 13 series, developed in partnership with Leica, has a 1-inch sensor, the largest ever built into a smartphone. In addition, this camcorder offers a wide range of detailed camera settings to meet the requirements of any professional photographer. Professional lens system and software features provide excellent focal length and image depth for perfect portraits.
“By bringing a few people and their stories to the fore, we can help others rediscover and appreciate the skills and dedication of these craftsmen. Through the project City artisans we managed to show how much energy, creativity and, no less important, work is behind works of art. The Xiaomi 13 Pro has been my reliable partner throughout this project. The quality of the images and the fact that the Leica experience has been brought to a mobile phone are really impressive aspects for me,” says photographer Sorin Florea, author of the Urban Artisans project.
In addition to professional Leica lenses, Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 offer users two different styles of photography – Leica Authentic Look and Leica Vibrant Look. Thus, the aesthetic possibilities become very diverse, and the images have an unprecedented accuracy. The phone’s camera interface is beautifully designed and easy to use. Other new fun features have been included, such as Leica filters, the Leica watermark and the classic Leica shutter sound. The Xiaomi 13 series is also available in Romania since the end of February, when it was introduced to the international market.
