
A young student at the University of Patras experienced moments of anxiety and horror.
According to local media reports, a group of students attacked a young gay man and started punching and kicking him. They also doused various parts of his body with paint.
The young man was in pain, and in the end the “hooligans” left him and ran away, reports tempo24.gr, citing the newspaper Achaiki Politia.
The incident took place at the Department of Pedagogical Sciences at the University of Patras. The rector of the university, Mr. Christos Buras, confirmed the incident and has already spoken to the president of the department. The student is in contact with the Chair of the Department and the Gender Equality Committee.
Mr. Buras told ERT that he sought a meeting with the victim, but he did not agree to the meeting. He also said that the student did not provide any details about the incident.
The victim has not yet filed a lawsuit against the people who beat him.
