Alexander Lukashenko, the president of Belarus, a satellite of Moscow, called on Friday for a “ceasefire” in Ukraine and the start of “unconditional” negotiations between Moscow and Kiev, predicting “escalation” otherwise and seeing “nuclear fire” on the horizon.
“We have to stop now before the escalation starts. I would venture to propose a cessation of hostilities,” A. Lukashenko said in his address to the people.
“It is possible – and necessary – to resolve all territorial issues, issues of reconstruction, security and other issues at the negotiating table without conditions,” he said.
The President of Belarus and Moscow’s only ally in Europe also said that “Western support for Ukraine risks provoking a nuclear war.”
“Because of the United States and its satellites, a total war has been unleashed in Ukraine.” “Nuclear fire appears on the horizon.”
A. Lukashenko also warned Ukraine against a counterattack against the invading Russian troops, saying it would make negotiations impossible.
