PSD President Marcel Ciolacu says that progressives in Romania are waging a smear campaign against the Romanian Orthodox Church (BOR) in the context of a proposal by religious cults to introduce religion as an optional subject in undergraduate studies. He claims that it is about the history of religions as an object of study, and not about religion in the habotic sense.

“The cults realized that they had to be united in this approach. Cults offered optional, so not mandatory. And sport is optional as a bachelor’s subject. We’re not talking about religion in the sense of abomination, we’re talking about the history of religions at the undergraduate level. I can’t get in trouble with the question “what are you doing, kissing the relics?”, Čolaku said on RTV Sunday night, News.ro reports.

When asked if there should be some impact research on introducing religion as an undergraduate elective, Marcel Cholaku said, “What impact research should be done on Christian principles that are thousands of years old?”

Cholaku: “Religion brings knowledge”

“Religion brings knowledge, not obedience. You don’t need to be arrogant if you study the history of religions. what are we talking about I lived in communism, nobody can impose anything on me. Imposing a state in Romania after 50 years, imposing forced progressivism on what you feel and believe in, leads only to extremism, antagonism. I don’t know what they want, that they won’t be able to change Romania,” the SDP leader added.

Representatives of the Romanian Orthodox Church and other religions are proposing that students be able to choose religion as a subject for a bachelor’s exam, considering the proposal a “logical and justified reality.”

At the same time, the Romanian Patriarchate and other religious cults in Romania said in a joint letter to Education Minister Ligue Dec that the commitment to promote “sexual diversity” in school is “absolutely offensive and harmful” and a “gender ideology”. which describes as normal a psychosomatic deviation called “transgenderism” is an “artificial ideological construction” that contradicts reality and the order of nature structured by two sexes, namely male and female.
