The state of Texas is set to introduce new tax breaks for film and television creators, thanks in part to the series’ success.yellowstoneยป Taylor Sheridan.

The television drama western starring Kevin Costner was filmed in the small town of Vinas, Texas, giving a significant boost to the local economy.

However, many TV shows and movies set in Texas are not actually filmed there because neighboring states offer producers more attractive tax breaks.

According to The Hollywood Reporter website, the entertainment industry injected $1.5 billion into the economies of New Mexico, Louisiana, and Oklahoma in 2022, most of which was spent on TV shows or movies set in Texas.

The natural environment of these three states is similar to Texas, but with more attractive tax incentives.

If the new bill, introduced in the Texas legislature on March 7, passes, movies and TV shows will be eligible for a 30 percent to 42.5 percent tax break on state spending.

In February, Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick said that “Taylor Sheridan’s goal is to move all of his television and film production to Texas.”
