In addition, according to the railway modernization plan, 122 kilometers of the existing single track Tiforea-Domokos will be replaced with a double track. By the end of autumn, remote control will be installed on the sections of the Athens-Thessaloniki-Promachonas axis, where the project has been delayed. Thus, the region turns into a transport hub for the whole country.
– In the agricultural sector, the East Vistrica irrigation network is already under construction and dams are planned in Bugazi Domoku and Livadi Arakhova. At the same time, the restoration of the traditional olive grove of Amfissa continues and the “Evia Meta” project is being developed to restore the northern part of the island with 71 valued projects, from vocational training programs for resin producers and reforestation, to the Psahna-Strofilia and Strofilia-Istiaia interchanges , as well as the modernization of the health centers of Istiaia-Edipsos and Mantoudi-Limni-Agia Anna.
– At the same time, natural gas reaches Lamia, Chalkis, Livadia, Thebes, Delphi and Karpenisi. The major renovation includes the site of the Lamia Panhellenic Exhibition, which is currently being transformed into a state-of-the-art convention center where mega events will take place, surrounded by a cradle of innovation and technology and a theme park. The extroverted entrepreneurship of the region is evidenced by the significant private and strategic investments that are already underway, mainly in the fields of energy and tourism.
“At the same time, critical infrastructure facilities that improve the daily lives of residents are being completed. The general hospital of Chalkis with 282 beds is already ready. New student residences and educational facilities will be built in Lamia under the PPP. The issue of waste management is being addressed with the IEA and the city dump. At the same time, in order to protect the cultural heritage, at the first stage, Delphi is protected from natural phenomena. So that in the future the systematic restoration of the monuments of their archaeological site would continue.
Specifically to support the recovery of the fire-affected areas of Evia, the file includes €154.7 million in restoration and prevention projects, another €157.1 million to support professional groups, residents and businesses affected by the fire, and more broadly supports master plan for the reconstruction of the northern part of the island.
