
The prices of holiday packages in Thassos will increase this year by 7-10%, as a result of an increase in operating costs of more than 30%, Paris Parashudis, president of the Association of Hotel Owners in Thassos, told News.ro. This year’s season will start on Easter. He says that there are also Romanians who have bought houses on the island, and others are looking to buy.
According to the president of the Association of Hoteliers of Thassos, last year the island was visited by 350,000 tourists, 65% of whom were Romanians. Romanian tourists stay an average of six days, while Bulgarian tourists stay less.
- “It is important to note that there are also Romanians who have bought houses on the island.
- Others even have smaller hotels,” Paris Parasoudis, president of the Association of Hoteliers of Thassos, told News.ro.
How much is a house on the island of Thassos
A house on the island can cost from 100 thousand euros to several million euros.
- “Even now there are Romanians who want to buy a house on the island or are building one.
- For example, I have a friend who owns a house and now wants to make wine. Many consider Thassos to be their second homeland. It’s very easy to get here,” he adds.
This year’s season will start on Easter.
How much will the rates on Thasos increase
This year the rates will be higher than last year.
- “Tariffs for packages will be higher by 7-10%.
- But our operating costs have increased by more than 30%. Energy has become very expensive, products too, personnel costs have increased, everything has become more expensive. But only part of the operating costs will be reflected in the price of accommodation,” says Paris Parasoudis.
For his part, the mayor of Thassos, Eleftherios Kyriakidis, says that the island of Thassos is the most sought-after Greek island by Romanian tourists.
- “Out of the total number of visitors we have every year, 65% are Romanians. From the reports I have received from the hoteliers we are talking to, I believe this year will be higher than last year.
- The desire of tourists shows that this year will be much more fruitful than the last,” said the mayor of Thassos, Eleftherios Kyriakidis, to News.ro.
In addition to Romanians, the island of Thassos is visited by Bulgarian, Serbian, Austrian, British, Polish, Czech tourists, as well as from Scandinavian countries.
