According to the survey, three out of four employees had an affair with a colleague.

According to a LiveCareer survey of 1,100 people, three out of four employees (75%) had an affair with a colleague.

“Many people may want to establish clear boundaries between work and personal life. However, this mission often fails. Emotions have their own law. Anything can happen anywhere, including in the workplace. You love, you hate and, of course, you build relationships with others,” as stated in pulse measurement presentation.

“This is generally not a good idea,” notes career consultant Brandon Smith, but adds that “if people struggle to find others with similar interests, then yes, work is where you can find it.” “.

While most know what a romance between co-workers can mean, they seem to approve:

  • 76% of respondents answered that there is nothing wrong with a relationship with a colleague, while
  • 71% reported that there is nothing wrong with their manager/manager

Despite the high level of “approval” of intra-work relationships, most recognize the problems they can create.

In particular, among the respondents:

  • 67% answered that they knew a colleague who cheated on their partner with a partner
  • 75% believe workplace romance leads to “nepotism” and
  • 74% how they lead to loss of productivity

“People don’t stay where they are forever. They get a promotion. But what happens when one succeeds and the other doesn’t? What does this give the couple? And what happens when one person gets promoted and another ends up romantically with their manager?” Smith asks, laying out some of the problems lovers can have in the same workplace.

A reasonable question is why the majority of respondents approve of intra-work relationships when they usually lead to … trouble.

One reason, experts explain, is optimism that they will find a life partner or a stable relationship. What’s more, 73% of those surveyed admitted to knowing someone who met the other half of their marriage at work.

However, according to Smith, for those who decide to succumb to the temptation of such a relationship, there are two main tips, if not for the stability of the relationship, then at least to avoid serious problems:

On the one hand, says Smith, it is necessary they maintain their relationship outside the office. If they work in the same department, they must “find ways to keep their distance from each other and maintain their professionalism.”

On the other hand, you must discuss the possibility of separationor at least find a “road map” of coexistence in case something goes wrong between them, but remain colleagues.
