The first round of the Euro 2024 qualifying tournament kicked off on Thursday evening, and the Italy-England match was the highlight of the day. Roberto Mancini’s team lost 2:1 in Naples.

Italy and England met in their Group C opener on Thursday, with Mancini’s side losing 2-1.

Declan Rice opened the scoring for the English in the 13th minute, and Harry Kane doubled the visitors’ lead from 11 meters (44th minute).

The English striker became the best scorer in the history of the England football team (54 goals).

In the second half, the Squadra Azzurri controlled the game and reduced the deficit in the 56th minute, with Tigre striker Matteo Reteghi scoring for the European champions from an assist by Lorenzo Pellegrini.

England faltered badly at the end, after Luke Shaw picked up two yellow cards in the space of two minutes and was sent off.
