
The State Department gave the green light to a possible sale of amphibious assault vehicles to Greece.
The Pentagon has estimated that an intergovernmental agreement on amphibious vehicles and related equipment could be worth $268 million.
The potential sale will be through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. The Defense and Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress of this potential sale, providing the necessary certifications.
State Department Statement
“The Greek government has requested the purchase of, among other things: sixty-three airborne assault vehicles (AAVP-7A1), nine airborne command vehicles (AAVC-7A1), four airborne recovery vehicles (AAVR-7A1) and sixty-three machine guns. Also included are MK-19 Grenade Launchers, M36E T1 Thermal Imaging Surveillance Systems (TSS), Procurement Support (Spare Parts), Support Equipment (including Specialty Kits/Tools/Advanced Kits (EAAK), Technical Manuals, Technical Data Sheets (CETS), Integrated Management Services Accounting Support (ILS), Refurbishment of Obsolete Components, Calibration Services, Follow-up Support (FOS).
