Russia: claims not to pose a threat to Sweden and Finland

Today, Russia assured that it does not pose a “threat” to Finland and Sweden, two countries that want to join NATO.

“We have repeatedly expressed regret about this orientation of Finland and Sweden. We have repeatedly said that Russia in no way poses a threat to these countries,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

According to him, Finland and Sweden “have no difference” with Russia.

“They never threatened us, so we are not a threat to them, and we can only regret” their desire to join NATO, D. Peskov added.

Finland and Sweden decided to join the North Atlantic Alliance after the start of the war in Ukraine, while Helsinki and Stockholm saw the Russian invasion as a threat to European security.

The two countries applied last May to join NATO. However, Turkey has raised objections accusing them of harboring “terrorists” and has yet to ratify their membership.
