The men’s polo team of Romania defeated Ukraine with a score of 15:5 in the third match of the preliminary qualifying tournament of the FIFA World Cup.

In the first game of the tournament, the tricolors won against Great Britain with a score of 16-2, and in the second they lost with a score of 7-9 to the leader Germany, according to News.ro.

Romania will play their last match against Malta on Sunday at 10.00.

According to LEN – European Aquatics, the first two places at the Otopeni tournament will qualify for the European tournament in Berlin from May. Germany automatically qualifies as hosts. Other qualifiers will come from similar tournaments in Africa, the Americas and Asia and Oceania.

Only after the Berlin tournament (May 1-7) will the two best teams advance to the final tournament of the World Championship, the former World Polo League. The final tournament will be held in Los Angeles from June 30 to July 2, while the other six teams will come from the first division, which hosts qualifying games on Wednesday, in Zagreb and Podgorica.

The World Cup is important because the finalists qualify for the 2024 World Cup (Doha), from where four teams qualify for the Paris Olympics.
