
Around 30 people were injured on Saturday after dozens of cars collided and some caught fire on the M1 highway in Hungary due to a dust storm that suddenly reduced visibility, hirado.hu reported. adopted by News.ro.
The Hungarian police reported that the accident happened around 14:25, on the 26th kilometer of the M1 highway, at the exit from Budapest, five trucks and 37 cars collided.
According to preliminary data, 19 vehicles burned down as a result of the accident, a total of 36 people were injured, one of whom received life-threatening injuries, and 13 people received serious injuries.
The police blocked the M1 highway in both directions.
The chain collision, in which 43 cars took part, happened in the Mani district in the center of Hungary.
At least 25-30 people were injured in the collision between several cars and a truck. Several cars caught fire. The cause of the accident was a dust storm, which reduced visibility to almost zero.
A large number of firefighters, police and ambulances, as well as several helicopters, were dispatched to the scene.
Thirty-two cars, five minibuses and six trucks were involved in an accident on the M1 in the Mány area, at kilometer 30, in the direction of Gyor.
Among 43 vehicles, 19 passenger cars, a van and a truck driver’s cab were completely engulfed in fire.
