Three months before the end of the season, the contract of Real Madrid has expired with seven players, and four more who have shown less may leave the team. One of the main issues is the extension of Karim Benzema’s contract.

Benzema demands more money from Real Madrid.

Despite it being announced that a contract extension for another season is certain, Karim Benzema has surprised the club’s management by demanding a significant salary increase, writes Sport.es.

The Frenchman is the team’s second-highest-paid player behind Hazard, and the management is reluctant to raise his wages after an injury-riddled season in which his results have dropped.

Nacho is in a similar situation, with the defender asking for a two-year contract, although Real offer a one-season extension to players over 30.

If Mariano is sure to leave Madrid at the end of the season, then Kroos, Modric, Asensio and Ceballos all have uncertain futures. They are joined by Hazard, Odiozola, Vallejo and Lunin, who are no longer considered to be main players.

Erling Haaland, wanted to replace Benzema

In the case of parting with the former “Golden Ball”, the club must attract a scorer of the same caliber, and the main option is Haaland.

Although the Norwegian’s transfer clause does not come into force until 2024, the investigation against Manchester City for breaching financial fair play could facilitate his move to Real Madrid.
