58 year old Walter Biota frigate captain and father of four from the Roman province of Pomecia, was found guilty by a court-martial on charges of sold secret documents to an official of the Russian embassy in Rome.

The judges recognized extenuating circumstances in the case.

Last night, the military prosecutor’s office in Rome demanded that Biot, accused of selling classified documents to a Russian embassy official in March 2021, be sentenced to life in prison.

Prosecutors have produced photographs of Biot using his mobile phone to take a series of documents, images and screenshots on a computer.

“Some of the 19 documents that Biot photographed were his secret documents. NATO and one was top secret,” the prosecutor said.

“Bio traded in secret documents and displayed a high degree of treachery and criminal ability.”

The prosecutor argued that Bio he could sell secret documents on other occasions as well.

OUR Italy expelled two employees of the Russian embassy in 2021 in connection with this case.
