Marian Olayanos, one of TVR’s best-known sports commentators, has been fired 24 years after he joined the public broadcaster. The termination of his employment contract was seen as disciplinary action after he was involved in a scandal accused of assaulting a colleague.

According to a TVR press release, on Thursday, March 9, representatives of SRTv handed Marian Olayanos a penalty decision with a disciplinary termination of the employment contract.

The decision was made as a result of the report of the disciplinary investigation committee based on the report submitted by Nadine Vladescu in October 2022 regarding acts of physical and verbal violence by TVR employee – journalist Marian Olayanos – against him, accompanied by a legal and medical certificate and other medical documents, the message states.

The disciplinary investigation was launched following a report received from Nadine Vladescu and based on the order of TVR Chairman Dan Cristian Turturic.

The report was sent to the management of the post on February 1, 2023 with a proposal to bring Marian Olayanos to disciplinary responsibility in the form of termination of the individual employment contract.

Given that from December 19, 2022 to March 8, 2023, Marian Olayanos was on vacation and receiving treatment, the journalist received the decision today, March 9, when he returned to work.

“The legal basis on which the decision was made consists of the analysis of some medical documents (medical-legal certificate issued by IML), other medical examinations carried out after the acts of violence suffered by Nadine Vladescu, video recordings that clearly record the acts of violence, interviews of witnesses , as well as other relevant documents confirming the serious disciplinary misconduct of Marian Olayanos. At the same time, during the meeting on December 9, 2022, Marian Olayanos stated the following to the commission: “being in a state of maximum emotional stress, trying to defend myself, I pushed Nadine against the wall, grabbing her by the cleavage,” the TVR press release also states.

Marian Olayanos joined TVR in 1999, was a field reporter, commentator and produced several shows, the most successful of which was Replay, gsp.ro reports.
