Actors from Italy, England, France, Canada, the United States, and Romania were convinced by the script, which we learn was originally conceived by Dan Kish, reworked by Tim John and Andrea Georgescu, and directed by Christina Jacob (whose name also appears in movie credits Oh Ramona!, Selfie 69 and Love story) and joined forces to pour during the pandemic The perfect escape. A film I learned about from the promotional materials it would contain love, sex and psychedelic rhythms.

After seeing it, I convinced myself that it contained them, but with a terrific sense of proportion and many, many minutes in which nothing really happens. Spectators are free to admire the snow-capped mountains. Admire and sigh. This could also be due to the fact that the filming was done during the pandemic, when we were forced to stay indoors, although it was still snowing in some places, and also because one of the characters is obsessed with preserving nature. Which should be protected from various kinds of aggression by humans. Even at the cost of some becoming deeply unsympathetic.

The story of The perfect escape (I give the title in English because the lines are spoken in Shakespeare’s language) takes place sometime in the last days of the year-end period. Four couples, more or less traditionally, spend about 48 hours, including New Year’s Eve, isolated due to the weather in a kind of mini-hotel or guesthouse, where a lot happens. As happens in most novels, films and plays, which so generously use the topos of a closed space.

Some of the heroes reconcile, forgive their betrayals, realize that they love and like each other, others find their true love, others engage in crazy sex, bringing trouble to the bed and those who hide under it. After a considerable amount of time they cannot tear themselves away from their laptop or mobile phone, despite the fact that they do not enjoy the benefits of the Internet, the characters agree to participate in a variety of board games that will culminate in a kind of Walpurgis night. When that night ends, everything goes smoothly because no crime has been committed. So there is no need to wait for a character similar to Georges Simenon, Agatha Christie, Rodika Ojog-Brashoveana or Horiya Tekuchana. In the finale, we hear a very beautiful song written by Andrii Tudor. It is first sung by the one named Sebastian, and then by all the characters. Another proof that Beaumarchais was right when he claimed this Tout finit par des chansons. IN The perfect escape no Bastille will fall. By the way, there is a lot of music in the film, in the soundtrack of which the absolutely wonderful compositions of Andriy Tudor are intertwined with wonderful fragments of classical music.

Actors from The perfect escapethey are like in a movie. Maybe a point or two above the writing and direction. They are neither bad nor good.
