Strengthening the investigation into the tragic incident in Tempi initiated by the head of the Larissa Prosecutor’s Office of Appeal, Stamatis Daskalopoulos, who was appointed by the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court as the person responsible for overseeing all investigations.

After apologizing and temporarily arresting the head of the station, whose fatal and criminal mistakes played a decisive role in the tragedy, Mr. Daskalopoulos, in his letter, in connection with the seriousness of the case, asked for a plenum of the Larissa Court of Appeal. was convened immediately to set up an appeal investigation into the unheard-of tragedy.

The investigation entrusted by the inevitable decision of the Appeal Plenum to the higher court will move in all directions to bring to criminal responsibility, except for the responsibility of the head of the station, officials of the UOZ, the traffic police inspector and other persons who will be held criminally liable. I checked how an inexperienced stationmaster with almost zero experience ended up at Larisa’s nervous post, and even during the three days of Clean Monday, when train traffic was increased.

In particular, according to the information, everything is expected to be checked, conversations with other station chiefs who saw the light, and whether there were duties from train drivers, who, unfortunately, are no longer alive and among whom are victims of a tragic accident.

Separate studies for projects

At the same time and on the occasion of the letter from Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, also appointed a separate investigation into the delay in the implementation of projects for the modernization of the railway network with control of contracts, why they did not move forward, how much money was spent, why schedules were not followed and who is responsible for everything. And this investigation was entrusted to the head of the appellate prosecutor’s office, Stamatis Daskalopoulos.

In his letter, the Prime Minister requested that the investigation in Larisa be raised to the highest possible investigative level and that an in-depth investigation into the delay of projects by the judiciary be carried out before the completion of the investigation of the special expert commission, the conclusion of which, according to him, will be transferred to the judiciary.
