The earthquake occurred at 00:55 at a depth of 11.1 kilometers and had magnitude III.
The earthquake was registered 107 km northwest of Craiova, 109 km southwest of Sibiu, 143 km west of Pitesti, 161 km southeast of Timisoara, 180 km southeast of Arad, 184 km south of Cluj- Napoca and 204 km west of Brasov.
The second earthquake was recorded at 03:43, with a magnitude of 2.6.
The strongest earthquake in the Oltenia region occurred on February 14 and had an intensity of 5.7 on the Richter scale. The day before, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 occurred in the same area at a depth of 16.5 kilometers. Two earthquakes were followed by hundreds of aftershocks.
