The American ferry Liberty Pride called at his port on Saturday Alexandroupolistransporting military equipment destined for NATO forces stationed in Southeast Europe.
The giant (length 199.9 m, width 32.26 m and draft 8.5 m) moored in the morning and began unloading military cargo, which will be sent by combined transport to Bulgaria and Romania, where two major NATO exercises, Atlantic Resolve, will take place in the near future 23″ and Defender Europe 23″ will take place against the backdrop of military conflicts in Ukraine.
The Liberty Pride has arrived in Alexandroupolis from the US port of Charleston and will set sail mid next week after loading more supplies and equipment for NATO forces on the Black Sea coast. As with other military mission transits, cargo will continue from the port of Alexandroupolis by train and truck. Loads returning from the exercise fields follow the same route in the opposite direction.
More than 200 American troops have already been deployed to Alexandroupolis to coordinate and monitor the crossings, in cooperation with the port authorities and the Greek army.
