The Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Bucharest Victor Kirile said on Wednesday night on Euronews that the authorities of Moldova hope that during this year the so-called oligarchs who are trying to destabilize the country will be put on the “black list”. » of the European Union, reports News.ro.
He clarifies that the Moldovan authorities have requested the extradition of millionaire Ilan Shor, who they say is behind the street protests in the Republic of Moldova, showing that they are aware that his extradition from Israel will be “difficult”, but that officials from Chisinau “they will insist.” According to Kirill, the Republic of Moldova is now “much more ready” than a year ago for external challenges.
“Let’s remember that in the fall we had a bigger scope than now, and we managed. This time they are more brutal, but our law enforcement forces are also ready and trained to face such challenges. We are much better prepared than we were a year ago, and we will not be caught off guard, no matter where the challenge comes from,” Victor Cirile told Euronews Romania on Friday evening.
The ambassador explained that the authorities of Moldova know “very well” where the challenges to the authorities in Chisinau come from.
“We know who is the initiator, the main organizer of these protests, Mr. Shor, who is in Israel and who was requested to be extradited, and the Israeli authorities are analyzing this request, I understand that nothing is impossible. We understand that the extradition procedure will be more difficult, but we will insist,” Viktor Kyrylo added.
He also stated that the Chisinau authorities want oligarchs involved in acts of corruption and destabilization of the democratic order in the country to be sanctioned.
“We are also in discussions with Brussels and member states regarding sanctions, blacklisting of Plahotniuk, Shor and other oligarchs in the European Union. (…) A reflection process is coming, we really hope that this reflection process will last as little as possible, so that we have within this year, why not before the end of this year, a decision by which these oligarchs, who contribute to the destabilization of the order in the Republic of Moldova in direct or indirect complicity with the Russian Federation, to be sanctioned, blacklisted, their bank accounts should be blocked,” Ambassador Viktor Kirile added.
