TikTok is rolling out more customization options for users to control how much time they spend online. There are also new default settings for teen accounts and more parental control options.
“TikTok requires teens to set a daily time limit on the app if they turn off the standard 60-minute limit, and if they spend more than 100 minutes a day on TikTok. This builds on the notification we launched last year to encourage teenagers to manage their screen time,” the company says.
TikTok is adding new features to the Family Pairing category:
- Personalized daily usage time limits: Parents will be able to use Family Pairing to set daily app usage limits for their children, including choosing different time limits for different days of the week. This gives families more opportunities to schedule their time in the program around school schedules, vacations, or family trips.
- Screen Time Dashboard: This feature will provide summaries of time spent in the app, how many times it was opened, and the breakdown of total time spent during the day and night.
Turn off notifications: Notifications help people stay connected, but sometimes it’s important not to be disturbed. TikTok is introducing a new feature that lets parents set a schedule to turn off notifications for teens.
“13-15 year old accounts do not receive push notifications from 9pm (default setting) and 16-17 year old accounts have push notifications turned off from 10pm (default default setting),” they say people. from TikTok.
