On Tuesday, a propane tank train derailed in Manatee County, Florida. At least six carriages derailed, including two propane, county officials said. According to the same source, no casualties or leaks from the tanks were reported.
The rail line was blocked until the cars were taken off the tracks. This process takes a long time because the crews have to pump the propane out of the tanks before moving them.
Robert Fay, vice president of the Seminole Gulf Railroad, told ABC News that six cars had derailed. Five of them completely faded into the background. Four were carrying oil and one was a propane van. According to Fei, the sixth car, also with a propane tank, derailed but remained upright.
The rescue operation in Florida will last several days, with a spokesman for the Seminole Gulf Railroad saying recovery work will be completed by March 6, according to Southern manatee rescue chief Robert Bounds.
The train accident comes just weeks after a train carrying toxic chemicals derailed near the East Palestine community in Ohio.
