
A train collision in Larisa just before midnight on Tuesday killed at least six people, according to ERT fire officials, as ambulances transport victims to local hospitals.
The collision took place under unknown circumstances. Information speaks for burned and maimed, at least 18 people were taken to two hospitals, one person was intubated. Checks were not completed on all wagons.
The collision of two trains, freight and passenger, also caused a fire, and 40 firefighters with 17 cars rushed to put out the fire.
Passengers who escaped safe and sound from the carriages of a passenger train on the route Thessaloniki – Larisa told about the moment of the collision on the camera of the local media.
“We stopped, we would have been an hour late because there was another train ahead. I just thought he had crashed, ”the woman said in an interview with local media. “There was a rumble (…) the train was half full, almost full,” said another passenger.
