​Karen Khachanov, this year’s semi-finalist at the Australian Open, was eliminated from the first round at the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai.

Karen Khachanov defeated Botik van de Zandschulp

Khachanov, the sixth favorite of the Emirati competition, lost to the Dutch Botik van de Zandschulp (33 ATP) after one hour and 35 minutes, the score was 7-5, 6-2.

Ranked 14th in the ATP rankings, Karen did not play again after losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the penultimate Grand Slam match in Melbourne.

Van de Zandshulp will play in the 1/8 finals of the Dubai tournament with Swede Mikael Imer (59 ATP).
