Geoffrey Donaldson, leader of the Northern Ireland Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), said his party was looking into legal texts released earlier today proposed new trade agreements.
He said that “significant problems” remained after the announcement of the deal between London and Brussels on Northern Ireland.
“DUP will look into the details of what was released today… If necessary, we stand ready to work with the government for further clarifications, draft revisions, or changes,” Jeffrey Donaldson said in a statement.
“It is clear that significant progress has been made on many issues, while at the same time it must be recognized that there are still significant areas of concern,” he said.
The DUP has boycotted the Northern Ireland Regional Assembly over the past year in protest of UK-Northern Ireland control in the post-Brexit era, and today Donaldson said that “principled position” has been confirmed.
