Two young Israelis were killed by bullets on Sunday in the north of the occupied West Bank during an attack on their car in what the Israeli government described as a “Palestinian terrorist attack,” AFP and Agerpres reported.
The attack, which took place on a road near the city of Nablus, came during a meeting between Palestinian and Israeli officials that began in Jordan on Sunday to try to stop the spiral of violence that has been seen since the beginning of this year after the government seized power in late December by Prime Minister Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (right) with far-right allies and ultra-religious formations.
In a joint statement, Prime Minister Netanyahu and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir announced that a ministerial committee had voted in favor of “a bill that creates the possibility for a court to decide on the death penalty for terrorists.”
Minister of National Missions Orit Struck, in turn, called on Twitter to “immediately return the Israeli delegation” participating in the meeting in Aqaba (Jordan).
Since the beginning of the year, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has claimed the lives of 62 Palestinians (including members of armed groups and civilians, including minors) and 9 civilians (including three minors), an Israeli policeman, and a Ukrainian.
