However, according to Italian media, the death toll could exceed 100 people.
As the rescued men of the Italian economic police were told, the boat (20 meters long) hit the rocks and immediately after that was cut in two. Doctors who were near Croton and providing first aid said that some of the rescued had burns on many parts of the body.
The ship left Smyrna four days ago. Twenty-two survivors were taken to hospital (11 minors), at least one is in critical condition.
