K. Hatzidakis: Proposal for a minimum wage – this will lead to a significant increase

minister Job and social issues Kostis Hatzidakis announced today that next Friday (3/3) he will make a presentation on minimal salary in the office.

In an interview with ERT, he said that he was waiting for the recommendation of the scientific committee and then he would make the recommendation.

“We need to look at performance. In this decision, we must find a balance between business opportunities,” said Mr. Hatzidakis, referring to the increased needs of employees due to inflation. “We need to take this into account and come to a fair decision, which nevertheless will lead to a significant increase.”

According to him, “It’s also a given for social reasons, because we see the hardships faced by those on the minimum wage, and also for political reasons, because we don’t want to give away a monopoly of social sensibility to the left.”

With regard to pensions, he noted that now they are paid within two months, as well as assistance in the amount of 100 euros for each month of waiting for the issuance of a pension.

Referring to the housing problem, which is particularly acute in urban centers, he stressed that 1,000 apartments will be made available to the most vulnerable. These are apartments that were given to immigrants. He also mentioned how the new pairs will be backed by a lower interest rate that will be 1/4 of the current interest rate.
