A 64-year-old man arrested for hitting a stray cat has been released by a three-person Minor Offenses Court in Thessaloniki, where he was sent to try for animal cruelty.
The court accepted the case and canceled his detention. He reportedly claims he tried to pet the cat, but it scratched him, so he reacted instinctively.
Passers-by noticed this incident and informed the Emergency Services for him to be detained as a spontaneous procedure.
As it became known, in addition to the materials of the criminal case, an administrative fine of 5,000 euros was also imposed on him.
