The Prime Minister had the opportunity to see the MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicles up close, as well as learn about their capabilities. Kyriakos Mitsotakisvisited the 110th Fighter Wing (FM) at the airbase Larisa Friday morning.
This is the first stop of his visit to Larissa today.
The Prime Minister was welcomed by Deputy Minister of National Defense Nikos Hardalias, Commander of the Defense Forces Konstantinos Floros, Commander of Tactical Air Force Lieutenant General Giorgos Fassoulas and US Ambassador to Greece George Tsounis.
It is noted that the Larisa base is one of the points where defense cooperation between Greece and the United States is manifested, since American drones regularly operate from there, while projects are being implemented to maintain and deploy them.
Larissa Air Base is the first organized military air base built and operated in Greece.
Its history begins with the landing of the first Greek plane “Dedalus” on September 29, 1912.
The mission of 110 AM is to maintain facilities and systems for air operations and emergency response.
