Auto insurance: prices will soar in 2023! News from Auto Plus in your smartphone News from Auto Plus in your mailbox

It’s getting harder and harder to find something that hasn’t gone up in price over the past few months. Fuel, tolls, maintenance, and auto parts all share the fact that we’ve experienced a real surge. It is about the war in Ukraine, but also taxation as well as inflation. In short, it’s not very good to be a motorist in 2023. Likewise, if you want to insure your car, which, as we remember, is obviously mandatory. But finding a company that doesn’t charge you exorbitant fees is getting harder and harder these days. And it shouldn’t be better.

Sharp rise

With inflation skyrocketing in 2022, it was only logical that this would be reflected in insurance premiums. And that’s pretty good, even though you currently have to pay an average of €645 a month to get your car insurance. Absolutely insane price, up 2.88% year over year. But there are big differences between regions. For example, we have to count 735 euros in Ile-de-France, against “only” €527 in Brittany, which is still very high despite the 29% difference. In general, it is in the west of France that we find the lowest premiums.

It mainly concerns young people

It is not surprising that young drivers under the age of 25 drink the most again an average of 1,036 euros per year. Conversely, pensioners over 55 years of age benefit from favorable tariffs, on average only 419 euros per year. A lower price compared to last year, which is also explained by the bonus-malus system. Finally, you’ll pay less if you drive a Dacia rather than an Audi or BMW.
